Per Governor Edwards, students will not be allowed to return to school buildings for the remainder of the school year, but education will continue. In adherence to this announcement, Southfield School’s campus will remain closed to parents and students for the remainder of the school year as well. Faculty and Staff will continue to educate and develop a lifelong love of learning with students through online learning.
Take a look at what Southfield’s faculty and students have been up to during this time of distance learning.
Preschool
Our Preschool friends have been very active during this time of distance learning. From walking rainbow science experiments to video French lessons, our youngest Eagles continue to soar!
Preschool teachers primarily utilize Seesaw and video instruction for class lessons and assignments. Below are videos of Mr. Jason and his chickens, and Mrs. Davis and her musical egg hunt. Both were very popular with students – and parents!
Lower School
Our students in kindergarten through 4th grade are hard at work continuing their lessons as they would on campus. From research presentations to persuasive speech writing to scientific studies on egg dying and puffy paint clouds, our Eagles continually impress us with their creativity and determination.
Lower School teachers utilize Seesaw and Zoom video lessons to communicate with students. Our Eagles especially love videoconferencing with their teachers and class!
Middle School
Our 5th-8th grade Eagles “meet” with teachers and classmates via videoconferencing. We continue to be wowed by our Eagles’ efforts during these unprecedented times (have you ever heard a Harry Potter/Hamilton original rap? Check out Eli’s drama submission!).
Middle School teachers use Google Classroom, video lessons, and live videoconferencing meetings with students.
Virtual Flag Ceremony
Though we are not currently on campus, we couldn’t skip our monthly Flag Ceremony! With help from some of our Eagles, we present our April (Virtual) Flag Ceremony.
Virtual Spirit Week
We’ve got spirit…yes, we do! We hosted our first Virtual Spirit Week, and our Eagles sure showed out! Here are a just a few of the many great entries we received and shared on our social media stories.
