Art In the Classroom

Art intersects in our classroom projects throughout the school year. At Southfield School we find integrating learning through art, music, and drama can reinforce concepts in social studies, science, math and the literary arts.

Students in lower and middle school have enrichment classes in art that go beyond their classroom activities. This is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the process of creating.

After school

Our extracurricular arts class gives students who show a passion for art an opportunity to work on more complex projects and gain advanced skills in the art.

Both lower school and middle school students have beautiful spaces to work in to create their masterpieces. Our lower school art building includes a pottery wheel and kiln.

Art has numerous benefits to students in our school. It reinforces other subject matters, it teaches process, cooperation and self-guided work. It illustrates accomplishments big and small. It helps us visualize, it can part of unwinding stories and histories. We learn about our students and our students learn from it.

Students participated in an engaging art competition.
