GIVING

Like every independent school, tuition alone does not cover the cost of the education we provide. Additionally, tuition does not address capital improvements or build the financial foundation of the institution. Our current campus and programs were made possible by past donors. Gifts from trustees, parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty, staff, and friends will secure our future. Please consider making a gift to the Eagles’ Fund today:

Capital Giving
Capital giving is comprised of major gifts to meet building and endowment needs. This is usually conducted  once or twice a decade, consisting of large gifts that donors typically pay over three to
five years.
ENDOWMENTs
This type of giving takes the pressure off of the operating budget. The practical equivalent of an Endowment is a savings account where the principle is protected. At Southfield, up to 5% of our $2 million Endowment can be spent each year.
PLanned Giving
Planned giving is a gift vehicle that allows you to donate via a trust, annuity, insurance policy, or most commonly, a bequest.  In instances of planned giving, donors often feel they can make a bigger gift in death than during their lifetimes.
In Kind
An example of this type of donation could be computers, musical instruments, printing services, etc. We recommend donors consult a tax expert due to the complicated rules and regulations about valuation and tax credits.

HOW CAN I MAKE A GIFT?

You can support Southfield School by making a gift of cash, appreciated assets, or bequests. To make a gift by phone,

EAGLES' FUND:

Eagles’ Fund is the heart of our school fundraising. Your tax-deductible gift supports faculty benefits and professional development, lab and athletic equipment, classroom upgrades, facility and campus needs, and security and safety at Southfield School. We rely upon the generosity of trustees, faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, and many friends to advance the school. This giving truly enriches the daily operations of the school, enables us to meet unusual needs, and safeguards that we can maintain and improve the campus, along with providing long-term financial stability.

MATCHED GIVING

More than 500 American corporations match their employee’s philanthropic contributions as part of their employee benefits package. Matching gifts allow a donor to double or trip their gifts to the School.

If your corporation offers a matching gift program, you can usually obtain the paperwork from your human resources department. After you complete the forms, please send to the school with your gift. Southfield’s Director of Advancement will submit the form to your company’s matching gift department, which will then send the check directly to the school.
