Who We Are

Inspiring learning for over 90 years

At Southfield, joy and curiosity fill each day. For over 90 years, we’ve partnered with families to inspire children to grow with confidence, character, and a lifelong love of learning.

Welcome from the Head of School

Sunny Huckaby
From the moment I first stepped onto Southfield’s campus in 2008, I knew this was a special place. I saw students skipping to the library with smiles, teachers sparking curiosity in the classroom, and a sense of joy and connection that was unmistakable.
Founded in 1934 by parents seeking an innovative model of learning, Southfield has grown and flourished while staying true to its mission and values. Our teachers deliver a challenging curriculum with care, nurturing curiosity, character, and kindness while ensuring every student is known, supported, and encouraged to grow with confidence. From Preschool 2 through eighth grade, students are guided to become creative, compassionate, and responsible young people, well prepared for the journey ahead.
I warmly invite you to explore our website and visit our campus. You will quickly discover a place where families feel connected, children are truly known, and learning is active and filled with joy. At Southfield, it’s more than a school; it’s a community that feels like family. Southfield is more than a school; it is a community that feels like family.
