Southfield School in Shreveport, Louisiana, seeks an experienced professional to serve as a long-term substitute teacher. Qualified candidates for this position should have at least a bachelor’s degree in education (or a closely related field) with a current certification. In the role of the long-term substitute classroom teacher, you will be responsible for maintaining instructional continuity by teaching several different subjects daily including language arts, math, social studies, and science, while assessing group and individual progress. You will implement and adjust lesson plans to enrich, challenge, and support students’ individual needs and progression during the temporary assignment. In addition, you will communicate student progress to families and the permanent teacher through written reports, checklists, and parent conferences as needed. You will also be responsible for supervising students in the classroom, on the playground, in the lunchroom, and during daily school arrival and dismissal times. As appropriate for the duration of the role, you may be asked to participate in school-wide meetings and attend essential functions beyond school hours.
