Getting Involved

A Fully Engaged Community
At Southfield School, we are committed to inspiring a strong culture of philanthropy and community engagement, which are essential elements in supporting a high-quality, independent school education and the health of our school. Our community of parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends is the heart of everything we do, playing a vital role in shaping the experience our students enjoy each day. This guide is designed to help you understand the many ways you can support Southfield—through both philanthropy and volunteerism.
Whether you’re a first-time parent or a long-time Southfield supporter, there’s a place for you to give, connect, and make a difference.

Ready to Deepen Your Involvement?

We’re so glad you’re part of the Southfield family. Whether you choose to give, volunteer, or both, your involvement strengthens our community in meaningful ways.
Together, we can ensure that Southfield continues to be a place where children grow with joy, curiosity, and confidence—and where every family feels a true sense of belonging. Thank you for being part of what makes Southfield so special.
The Parents' Association

The Southfield Parents’ Association (PA) offers countless ways for parents to get involved, meet others, and contribute to the heart of our school. Whether you have an hour to spare or time for a larger commitment, there’s a place for you to share your talents and energy.

Parents’ Association Meetings are held bi-monthly on Friday mornings at 8:15 in the Southfield Cafe. Join us to learn more about volunteer opportunities, upcoming school events, and to meet fellow parents. Check your Southfield Calendar or the Weekly for meeting dates.

Southfield Dads' Club

The Southfield Dads’ Club mission is to foster fellowship among Southfield dads and male role models while enriching their lives, the lives of their children, and the school. Whether you’re new to Southfield or a longtime parent, the Dads’ Club offers meaningful ways to engage with your child’s school experience—and have fun along the way.

Thanks to the funds raised through the golf tournament, the Dads’ Club is able to host events free of charge, making them accessible and enjoyable for all families.

Dads' Club Activities Include:
  • Preschool Playdates
  • Mudbugs Hockey nights
  • Breakfast Gatherings
  • Family Bingo nights
  • Annual Golf Tournament

In addition to hosting events, the Dads’ Club also provides valuable volunteer support for school-wide activities throughout the year.

The Power of Philanthropy & Community Engagement

Independent schools like Southfield rely on more than just tuition to provide an exceptional educational experience. Tuition covers only about 75% of our annual operating expenses. Philanthropic support bridges the gap and ensures our students continue to have access to outstanding teachers, innovative programs, and vibrant community events.Just as important is the gift of time. When families volunteer, they strengthen the ties that bind us together. From helping in the classroom to planning community events, family involvement breathes life into our mission and models service for our children.

Together, your time, talent, and treasure make Southfield stronger.
