Physical Education Teacher

Primary Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of child development. 
  • Oversee the inventory, distribution, collection, maintenance, and replacement of all PE equipment to ensure it is safe, functional, and organized.
  • Ensure that all athletic facilities, fields, and courts are properly maintained and prepared for both daily use and scheduled athletic events.
  • Conduct regular safety checks to confirm that all equipment and spaces meet safety standards and are suitable for student use.
  • Design, implement, and manage a developmentally appropriate Physical Education program that aligns with national standards and reflects the school’s educational mission, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all students.
  • Deliver engaging, standards-based PE lessons that promote physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and healthy habits.
  • Establish and oversee procedures for Middle School students to dress appropriately for PE classes on a daily basis.
  • Assess student progress and provide report card grades for all assigned grade levels.
  • Support the school’s mission and culture in encouraging each child’s lifelong love of learning. 
  • Create a classroom culture that fosters a secure, student-centered environment, promotes a challenging rigor, and develops each student’s self-confidence and integrity. 
  • Have a willingness to share your knowledge, expertise, and experiences with others, helping both colleagues and students reach their goals while honoring differences of perspectives, values, and opinions. 
  • Actively create networks with colleagues, other schools, and professional organizations to grow your knowledge continuously and demonstrate your commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Responsive to families in a timely manner and shares important details and information throughout the year. 
  • Be committed to self-reflection to evaluate your instruction, assessment, and professional responsibilities, and explore new ideas, research, and pedagogical practices that enhance the student experience. 
  • Adhere to the school’s expectations regarding punctuality, timeliness, dress code, and confidentiality while also embracing and contributing to the school’s life beyond your instructional role. 
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • 2-5 years in related field preferred 
  • Certification in Education or related field 
  • CPR certification (available upon hire)
