1-3-2012

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. It is such a joy to be all together again. Today we enjoyed some of our favorite stories and songs such as Brown Bear and twinkle, twinkle little star. It was a nice way to transition back to our classroom routines.

We are beginning a two week study of winter weather. Our stories will include The Mitten, Will You Wear a Blue Hat and Three Little Kittens. We will mix and match mittens and learn a fun color poem about mittens, caps and boots.

We will make cotton snow and make a winter collage. We will experiment with ice and even have  “snow: to play with in our classroom! We will have fun counting snowmen and learning a snowman rhyme.

As always, we will enjoy songs, dancing, running and jumping together. Your child will have an opportunity to paint and play with playdough, color and peel stickers. We are always busy building blocks, caring for baby dolls and driving trucks. We spend time each day in active play and sitting quietly reading books individually and in small groups.

Please remember, outdoor play is vital for gross motor development. Unless it is way too cold or rainy, we will play outside each day and/or go for a walk. Please dress your child in layers and label everything with his or her name.

We are so excited to spend these cold winter days in our warm classroom with your precious child.

Welcome 2012!
