Bonjour!  Welcome to fourth grade French! In the first quarter of this year we will work on saying our name, the weather, the alphabet, the parts of the body, the days of the week, the numbers 1-20, colors, family, and many Basic Vocabulary words.  We also will do reviews of our plays from Kindergarten to 3rd grade, which contain a lot of useful vocabulary.  Over the first quarter, I will allow less and less English in the classroom, moving as soon as I think they are ready to an all-French class.  This is crucial in developing oral proficiency.  I will also begin teaching the new vocabulary for our play, Comment Y Aller, during the first quarter.  After the play is introduced, the children will work in small groups and read it aloud for themselves.  They will memorize their parts and begin doing written exercises based on the play.  I hope your children are enjoying French.   I look forward to a great year! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at: mbeck@southfield-school.org.
