Bonjour!  Welcome to first grade French.  This is a challenging year as the children are transitioning from more "Sing and dance" time to "read and write" time in French.  I try to keep a balance and do active, fun things from last year as well as work on our new play, Boucles d'Or et les Trois Ours (Goldilocks and the Three Bears).  So far this year we have worked on saying our name, the weather, the parts of the body, the days of the week, the numbers 1-20, the alphabet, clothes, family, as well as doing a review of last year's play, La Petite Poule Rouge, which contains a lot of useful vocabulary.  I have been slowly introducing vocabulary for this year's play.  Last week we played "the bell game" which gave them a chance to compete and show what vocabulary they have learned.  We will learn the play orally and later in the year they will start reading it aloud!  I hope your children are enjoying first grade ( I know mine is!).  Please e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns.  A bientôt--
