Jack Collum - Southfield 8th Grader scored the highest  score on the Loyola College Prep entrance exam this year.  With this success he was awarded the Ernst Scholarship which will be presented to him at an awards ceremony on May 18th at Loyola!

ALA-LA-MISS Math League Contest

Join us at this year's Spring Book Fair - "Book Fair Luau" Tuesday, May 1 - Thursday, May 3 (7:30am -4:00pm) and on Friday the 4th (field day)7:30am-1:00pm. In addition to the Scholastics, Inc. book selections, we will have available required summer reading books as well as next year's Parent Book Club selections!

At the State Arkansas Foreign Language Teacher's Association (AFLTA) competition, Southfield Middle School competed against over 500 other students (many of them at the high school level).  They were very successful.

Rose Bellamy is also a semi-finalist in the ‘World Poetry Movement” contest. If her poem is selected as a finalist, then she will be published in their anthology, as well!

Our official Southfield Middle School MathCounts Team placed 2^nd at the local competition on Feb 4, 2012. This advances the team to the State Competition on March 17 – 18 in Pineville, LA.  Elizabeth Bryan, Jacob Kesten, Jonathan Li, and Jack Meacham were the members of this team. 

Of 96 students competing, Jonathan Li placed 2^nd individually and Jacob Kesten placed 5^th.

Congratulations to 7^th grader Mackenzie Brown won our school spelling bee. She will go on to represent our school in the Northwest Regional Spelling Bee on March 3, 2012 at LSUS.

One of the first acts of this student council was to run a collection for the Veterans Transitional Living Program.  Sponsored by the VOA, this 56-bed transitional shelter provides food and shelter for homeless, single men. Southfield middle school families donated 157 tubes of toothpaste, 566 razors, 209 bars or bottles of soap and 43 containers of shaving cream!
