Weekly Theme:  Our Favorites

We took some time this morning to talk about our favorite things to do at school!  We will spend the next two weeks enjoying each other and doing these fun things!  It seems to be a unanimous decision, everyone likes finger painting!! We will make sure we offer plenty of time to finger paint!  There were also requests for easel painting and bingo dots!  We will make a beautiful summer collage!

Weekly Theme:  Butterflies

Art:  This week we will start talking about insects, with focus on butterflies!   We will make a coffee filter butterfly, using colored dyes and a clothes pin! 

Math:  We will finish our watermelon seed math this week! This is a very busy time of year and we have to make our schedule pretty flexible.

April 23-27

Theme:  Seeds and Plants

Art:  We are going to use a dropper and water colors to create beautiful flowers.  We will also sponge paint some leaves to attach to our giant beanstalk!  Hopefully, we will have time to begin a special treat for our Mom’s.  We are going to re-create Van Gogh’s painting of sunflowers!

Math:  We are going to count watermelon seeds from 1-5.

Weekly Theme:  Earth Day

Art:  Starting Monday, we are going to make a paper mache Earth.  After it dries we will paint it green and blue to show the land and water!  If our Earth is finished in time, we will also collage a circle with green and blue paper.  We will practice tearing the paper and working on our fine motor skills!

Weekly Theme:  Eggs and Spring

Art:  We will paint some beautiful spring flowers using water colors.  These will be on display in our room!  We will also paint with bunny tails!  We will use cotton balls to paint a hopping picture!  On Friday, we will make a beautiful spring collage.  We introduce the egg shape, elliptical, so we will make our collage on the elliptical.

Weekly Theme:  Eggs

Art:  Today we made pastel easter eggs, and we decorated them with glitter!  On Wednesday, we will make a chickadee with yellow paint and shaving cream!  We will also make our spring self portraits, and each child will tell me about their drawing.
