September 26 - September 30

Theme:  Breath and Reflect

We have had the petal to the metal since the first day of school!  We thought it would be a good idea to take this week and reflect on all we’ve done to this point and polish up a few unfinished projects.  Of course some books are so fun we just have to read them again.

Literacy and Language:  We will reread  Hands, Hands, Fingers, Thumb and Go Away Big Green Monster.  We will also read the Rectangle Book, and Glad Monster, Sad Monster.

Art Activities:  We will be completing our big green monster and following up on a few other projects we need to finish up

Discovery and Sensory:  We have deer corn in the sensory table this week.  We will also talk about body parts.

Math:  Rectangle is our shape for the week and the # 3 is our number of focus this week.  Please look for your child’s rectangle in his/her bag.  These were made with “biggie beads”, the preschool version of perler beads.  It is both an exercise in patterning and shape recognition as well as a phenomenal fine motor exercise.

Cooking:  On Thursday we will make monster toast for snack.

Parents Corner:  Courtyard has been a huge success.  Thanks to all the moms and dads who have volunteered.  It is never too late to do so and you are always welcome to drop in.  I count your children as a blessing every day.  Thanks!
