January 3 - 6

Theme: Winter

Literacy and Language:  Today we read Penguin’s Special Delivery.  We will be read books about penguins, snow and snowmen for the next couple of weeks.  Among these titles are Snowballs, The Snowman, Amy Loves the Snow, and A Winter Day.

Art Activities:  We will make snowflake place mats, melted snowmen, and we paint blob snowmen with white paint.

Discovery and Sensory:  We will be exploring things that freeze and melt.  We plan to build an iceman and melt him with the blow dryer.

Math:  We will be measuring the height of snowman pictures in pennies and sequencing events.

Cooking:  We will make surprise snow cookies and hot chocolate on Thursday.
