Reminders:

September’s Flag Ceremony will be on Monday.  Don’t forget to wear your Southfield shirt.

Fathers and Friends’ Luncheon for 6^th grade will be at 12:15 on Wednesday in the cafe.

Don’t forget to sign up to work a shift at the Revel.  Not only is it FUN, but it helps the school!  Sign up at www.southfield-school.org for the first week of October.

Signed reading logs and conduct sheets are due every Monday.  Don’t forget to read and record one day over the weekend.

Language Arts 6A and 6B

We are beginning Book Buddies this week.  The students are very excited and I can’t wait to see their projects.  The projects will be due on Friday, 9/30.  A list of project choices will be given in class.  Students are asked to read at least two books outside of class during the quarter.  One will be with their buddy; the other is a book of their choice.  We will write and present one page book reports about the second book.  The book reports will be due on Thursday, October 13.  We will write one in class together and a sample will be shown as well.

We will be completing our study of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe this week and begin The Shakespeare Stealer  by Gary Blackwood next Monday (9/19/11).  I have a class set, but if you wish to purchase your own to bring to class, that is fine.  It is not required.

Monday

• Read 15 minutes and record on reading log (RWS)
• Spelling –complete ws 10-11 front and back
• Choose character and 4 traits for flip chart.  Written instructions given in class.

Tuesday

• Read 15 minutes and record on reading log (RWS)
• Spelling- alphabetize the words
• LWW reading check tomorrow over chapters 12, 13 and 14

Wednesday

• Read 15 minutes and record on reading log (RWS)
• Spelling-  create a story using at least 6 of the words from our spelling list
• LWW reading check tomorrow over chapters 15, 16 and 17

Thursday

• Read 15 minutes and record on reading log (RWS)
• Spelling crossword puzzle
• Spelling test tomorrow

Friday –

• Read 15 minutes and record on reading log (RWS)
• Return conduct sheet and reading log on Monday
