Prior to becoming Headmaster of Southfield in 1990, Mr. Stokes had 16 years of experience in education as both a teacher and administrator. Mr. Stokes taught history at a variety of independent schools including Flintridge Preparatory and The Brentwood School in Los Angeles, and Phoenix Country Day School in Phoenix, where he also served as History Department Chair, Summer School Director, Assistant College Counselor, Dean of Students, and Director of Studies. Mr. Stokes is a long time contributing member of Independent Schools of the Southwest (ISAS). He has served as an officer on the ISAS Executive Committee, as well as being a past member of the Standards, Program, and Finance Committees. Mr. Stokes has a Bachelor Arts in History from the State University of New York in Albany and his Masters degree from the University of North Carolina. Jeff and Kathy's two sons are both alumni of Southfield.
